PETE SAMPRAS' *Tennis Serve* Explained | FEDERER'S Weight Transfer On The *Tennis Serve*

jeffsalzensteintennis.com I had a viewer comment on my tennis serve on the Nadal Serve Video I have posted (http The viewer commented on the fact that I am not "following through" on my tennis serve. If you study Pete Sampras, who had one of the greatest serves of all time, you will see him arm bend right after contact. Bending your arm right after contact on the tennis serve will allow you to relax and pronate your hand and arm correctly. We have all heard the word "PRONATION" from a coach when they are explaining the tennis serve. The key is to be like Pete Sampras and actually get that arm to bend after contact during the tennis serve. The next comment this viewer made stated I was not jumping out into the court enough on the tennis serve. I am here to set the record straight on this tennis serve myth. If you study the videos of servers like Federer, Sampras and Roddick, most of the time they will land on the baseline or just in front of the baseline after their tennis serve. Traditional coaching might tell you jump out into the court as far as you can after the tennis serve. Well this leaves you, what some might call, "no man's land". This is not a good position to be in after your tennis serve. Take a hint from players like Roddick, who have been known to hit serves upwards to 158mph, and try not to leap out into the court after your tennis serve. The very last comment this viewer posted was that my toss was too far over my head on the tennis serve. If you compare my ...

*TENNIS TRAINING* | How To (Warmup)

jeffsalzensteintennis.com When training for tennis people often wonder what is the purpose of hitting short court to warmup. Now if you do the traditional tennis training and do a short court warmup you probably just stand there and not thinking about how to warmup and improve your tennis training. Let me help you take your tennis training the the next level. There will be three different levels with with your warmup to improve your tennis training. The first level of warming up will involve hitting all slice and moving through the ball. The key is to not get your feet stuck in the ground while hitting your slices. This is just one mastery key to taking your tennis training to the next level. The next level is hitting topspin. Try using more of your hands and finishing the stroke. Many people wonder why their forehand and backhands don't improve and they basically do not finish their strokes. Finishing your stroke is another critical component to taking your tennis training to the next level. The last level for the short court warmup is adding the footwork while hitting topspin. Tennis training takes more than just hitting the ball. Adding the correct footwork to your training will dramatically improve your game. Try using some of the footwork patterns I have mentioned including the switch pattern, open stance, lift and land, run thru. Those are just a few of the footwork patterns that I have created to improve your game. Implement this into your tennis training and watch ...

*Tennis Forehand* | How To Handle The (Short Balls)

jeffsalzensteintennis.com The tennis forehand is a easier shot to hit when you are in the middle of the court stepping in. What happens when you have to move up to those pesky short balls on the tennis forehand? What do you do with your forehand? What do you do with your feet? The master key is to move through your forehand instead of stopping on your tennis forehand. A lot of coaches will tell you to always get set up for your tennis forehand. This just doesn't work when running up to short balls on the tennis forehand. Next time you are on the tennis court, try moving through those pesky short balls on the tennis forehand. http

SLICE FOREHAND | How To Hit The *Slice Forehand*

jeffsalzensteintennis.com The slice forehand is a shot I do not teach a lot but I feel it is important to have it in your bag of tricks You might have to the slice forehand when moving up for a drop shot. You can massage the slice forehand as you move up to net and the ball is dropping very low in front of you. Instead of chopping at the ball, hold your finish on the slice forehand and keep the racquet on the same side of your body. Pretend you are holding a waiter tray at the end of the slice forehand. Check out the demonstration of Jeff dealing with a low ball by using a slice forehand. This tricky shot can help you win a few points a match especaily if an opponent likes to hit a bring you to the match. *SWINGING VOLLEY* | How The (Swinging Volley) Will Transform Your Game

jeffsalzensteintennis.com The swinging volley is not a new shot to the game of tennis. Look back at matches of John Mcenroe, and you will see him hitting swinging volleys. Now you might be telling yourself.... "my coach told me to NEVER swing at volleys". I will be honest with you.... The swinging volley is not a beginner stroke. The swinging volley is a stroke that will help you take your game to the next level. Next time watching Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal, look for them to hit swinging volleys off of big forehands. When you are playing an opponent who lobs the ball, try hitting a swinging volley when they lob the ball up. Take that shot out of their game, by stepping into the baseline and taking the ball out of the air. When you hit a swinging volley, you will try to swing the same way you would hit a forehand or backhand. You will make a full swing across your body on the forehand and finish the swing above your shoulder on the backhand. Try hitting the swinging volley next time you are on the court!! http

*TENNIS VOLLEY* | Tennis (Forehand Volley) And Pat Rafter

jeffsalzensteintennis.com Today we are talking about the tennis volley. More specifically the tennis forehand volley. I know a lot of us have trouble with our volleys period. No matter if it is a forehand or a backhand tennis volley. Patrick Rafter had one of the best tennis volleys ever to play the game. The biggest key to Pat Rafters tennis volley was that he tried to keep his head as close to his racquet head throughout the tennis volley. Now you are probably asking what does this mean for your tennis volley. More coaches will tell you to punch the ball with a straight arm on the tennis volley. Do you think you get a lot of control and feel with a locked arm on your tennis volley? Next time try and get your actual head as close to your racquet head when you make contact on the tennis volley. Pat Rafter did this and so did Pete Sampras. Two of the greatest serve and volley players. Try and keep your two heads closer together on the tennis volley and you will improve your feel and control. Let me know if this works for you and what you think about keeping your head close to your racquet head on the tennis volley. http

*TENNIS SERVE* | Tennis How To Serve | Javier's Serve Journey

jeffsalzensteintennis.com In our video today, we are going to follow one courageous young man on his journey to creating a better tennis serve. Javier came to me wanting to improve his tennis game and especially his tennis serve. We started with him wondering how hit a tennis serve, to understanding basic concepts to having a powerful tennis serve. Many tennis players struggle with their tennis serves and Javier was no different. The only difference between Javier and most other people is that he went out and found a coach to help him improve his tennis serve. We spent six months off the court in a basement doing shadow swings, holding certain positions throughout the tennis serve and hitting into a net. Our goal was to change over seven years of muscle memory to improve Javier's tennis serve. Over 6 months and around 24 total hours of practice on the tennis serve, Javier has been able to come close to Roger Federer's tennis serve. There are still a few things that Javier can work on to keep taking his tennis serve to the next level, but this video is a testimonial to what the right kind of training can do to a tennis players game.. If you want to change your tennis serve, try holding the trophy position and doing multiple shadow swings to really learn the muscle memory for a dominating tennis serve. I want to personally thank Javier for being such a great student. He is a part of program in Denver, Colorado called Net Results, which helps at risk youths through tennis ...

Tennis Forehand | How Djokovic Gets Spin

jeffsalzensteintennis.com On the tennis forehand, players are always asking me how they get more spin. They also ask me how a player like Djokovic can hit the ball so hard and keep the ball in play. The key to Djokovic and any other great player crushing tennis forehands and keeping them in play has to do with getting the right amount of spin on their tennis forehand. If you got to see Djokovic win the US Open this year, you'll notice he does something very specific every time he takes his racquet back on the tennis forehand. Djokovic actually gets his strings to point towards the back fence on his tennis forehand before he swings at the ball. Pointing your strings back towards the back fence on the tennis forehand, like Djokovic, will allow your strings to close before contact. Closing your strings before contact on the tennis forehand will allow you to brush up the back of the ball creating lots of spin like Djokovic does. If you find yourself having trouble getting spin on your tennis forehand, try getting your strings to point towards the back fence when you take your racquet back during your tennis forehand. But remember you can only do it with a semiwestern grip. If you have an eastern grip you cannot do this. Also go over the http and click on the Tennis Forehand Solution banner under my blog post to get your free forehand cheat sheet and learn exactly how pros like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic hit their forehands. I know you want to be able to crush tennis ...
